Bachelor in Economics info

Economics is about how society deals with limited resources such as natural resources, labour, and technology. It describes how resources are used and how they can be distributed to satisfy human needs.

Modern societies are characterised by their complexity and fast changes. Economics examine how the economical life in society functions. What seems to be the best solution for the individual consumer or enterprise, may not be the best for the country as a whole. Governments have restricted access to resources, and economics can be described as the study of society's use of these restricted resources.

Micro and macro economics

We distinguish between micro and macro economics. In microeconomics students will be provided with an understanding of particular actors, as for instance families and firms, and how their behaviour in the market is affected by changes in technology, price levels, and income. In macroeconomics students are trained to perform analyses of the interaction between macroeconomic phenomena such as the gross domestic product, interest rates, unemployment, payment problems, and inflation.

Economic reasoning can be used to analyze, understand, and discuss problems related to unemployment, inflation, education, environment, and international economic interaction.

Programme components

A bachelor's degree requires three year of studies (180 ECTS) and the students are offered a possibility to combine different courses. For detailed information about the courses and information regarding language of instruction, please consult the course list .
