The Centre for Academic and Professional Communication aims to produce and communicate research-based knowledge about professional and interprofessional communication. Our research projects address communicative challenges that students, employees, and managers encounter in their professional practices. We collaborate with researchers and practitioners in a variety of workplaces in both the public and private sectors.

The Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFF) funds a three-year professorship at the centre for the period 2017-2020.

The centre is affiliated with the discipline of Applied Linguistics.

SEKOM hosted the international Conference Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP) in September 2020.
