The Psychophysiology lab
The Psychophysiology Lab is run by Dr. Flaten, a Full Professor at NTNU (IPS) former head of the Society for Psychophysiological Research, and the current Head of the Department.
The primary focus of the lab is on furthering the understanding on the role of psychological, emotional, and contextual factors that affect our sensation and perception of pain. Our research involves a variety psychological and psycho-social factors, such as emotions and stress, prior experiences and learning, pain beliefs, expectations and cognitive processes, placebo effects, contextual factors, individual differences, and personal characteristics, to name a few.
