Our group is interested in the interaction of light and matter, and the possibilities for making both passive and active devices from them.  This includes for example Intermediate Band and Radial solar cells, and novel core optical fibers.  In order to make these materials, we use thin film deposition techniques for fabrication of films, and bulk optical fiber production techniques to make samples for fundamental and applied research. Collaborators in Spain, Taiwan, USA, UK, Cyprus, Canada, Singapore and Sweden are involved in this research.
