Study abroad

At NTNU you have the opportunity to stay abroad as part of the program for one or two semesters.

You can apply for studying abroad during the third or fourth semester of the master program.
Materials Science and Engineering is an international field. The academic environment has good contacts all over the world, and many of the students therefore take part of their studies at foreign universities. As a student at NTNU you have good opportunities to study abroad, which has many benefits.

You should start planning well in advance, at the latest during the fall semester of the year before you want to travel.

Quota students are not eligible due to visa regulations. However, as very few international students apply for study abroad stays, the majority of the relevant information is in Norwegian. If you are an international student who would like to study abroad, we suggest you get in contact with your faculty and the Office of International Relations as soon as possible.
Who can help you with what?

  • Your advisor/faculty/department can help with all academic questions concerning your studies abroad including e.g. which institutions are best for your program and what courses to take.
  • NTNU's Unit for International Relations can help with practical issues related to planning, the application process, deadlines, etc.

See NTNU's site Studying abroad for more information.
