Modelling of Dust Formation and Clustering in the Ferroalloy Industry
Airborne particulate matters, originating from various sources in the metallurgical industry are both a concern in terms of workers health, and contribute to the so-called diffuse emissions, which may be harmful to the local, urban communities as well as the environment at large.
My project aims to model the formation and clustering of these particles using tools such as Comsol and Ansys. Coupled with experimental data, the model aims to improve our knowledge on which variables affect the formation and clustering of particles, and how.
The project will focus on FeMn-, SiMn- and FeSi-alloys, continiung the work of the DeMaskUs-project. Previously gathered data will be used together with recent experiments to calibrate the model over a wide range of variables.
