Preconception care involves a comprehensive approach to health and well-being for individuals planning to conceive, aimed at optimizing both maternal and fetal health outcomes. This care includes medical, behavioral, and lifestyle interventions to identify and modify risk factors before pregnancy. Screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and ensuring effective management if present is vital. Lastly, discussing and planning the timing of conception, understanding fertility, and addressing any psychological or emotional concerns are integral to preconception care, ensuring individuals are well-prepared for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

Couples in the Kachere area will have the possibility to get preconception counselling at the health clinic funded by this project. It is important to reach out to both man and women. Health care team is trained and are running the service now.
