Research activity

NTNU Energy Research Section

The energy research section at IØT has strong competence on: managing uncertainty in power systems, developing bidding models for producers and aggregators, formulating electricity market designs options, planning and operation of transmission and distribution grids, analysing power markets and balancing of renewable energy, assessing the optimal utilization of distributed flexible resources, and recommending European energy policies and regulatory frame conditions. IØT is host institute of FME NTRANS - Norwegian Center of Energy Transition Strategies. IØT also leads the NTNU Energy Transition Initiative that coordinates all research at NTNU on transition strategies for the energy system.

The group focuses on cross disciplinary research in energy system modelling.
