This focus area researches diseases where certain groups of nervecells gradually die or change function. The most known diseases are dementia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and motor neurone disease.

The focus area for neurodegenerative disorders is a collaberation between department of neurology and clinical neurophysiology, geriatrc section and neurobiological laboratory.
