About the Department of Modern History and Society
About us
The Department of Modern History and Society has about 30 employees in scientific positions and 3 administrative staff. PhD candidates and post docs stands for 50% of our scientific staff.
Our research, education and communication cover the width of modern history.
The institute is actively seeking external financing for research and education to promote new perspectives on modern history. Dissemination of knowledge is given to students through research-based education. Dissemination of common knowledge to society is also a prioritized task.
The research aims to enhance our understanding of history in terms of economy, politics, sustainability, health, wealth and demography.
The requirement of knowledge in society and the interest of our employers and students controls our research and education. We continuously work with different research projects with local, national and international partners.
The department of Modern History and Society is one of seven institutes at the Faculty of Humanities, NTNU.
