About CANOPENER 2017
CANOPENER 2017 is the opening event for INTPART (International partnership for outstanding education and research) CANOPNER project ‘Canada-Norway Partnership in Electrochemical Energy Technologies’.
The project will last from 2017 until 2020, and aims to develop and strengthen collaborations between NTNU, SINTEF and our project partners, including groups at Simon Fraser University and The University of Victoria amongst other universities in Canada.
The ‘CANOPENER 2017’ event will be held in Trondheim from the 19th to 23rd June 2017. The venue is NTNU Gløshaugen.
The event will consist of two main parts:
-
During the first two days of the week, there will be a number of presentations from all groups involved in the project. This is designed to get a general overview of what all participants are doing, and to aid the seeking out of future collaborations. The project has funding for a number of student and professor exchanges over the course of three years, so if you are interested in an exchange in either Canada or Norway, this is a good place to start!
There will also be a number of individual presentations and a poster session, for a more in-depth look into current research in the field of electrochemical energy technology.
-
The second half of the week, from Wednesday to Friday, will consist of an educational program in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. This will primarily be held by an expert in the field, David Harrington. It will cover topics such as:
Introduction to Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
Definition and calculation for circuit elements
Fitting data to equivalent circuits & relevant aspects of circuit theory
Deriving impedance for simple reaction mechanisms (systems with adsorption, diffusion, charge transfer), and general derivation method.
Validation of impedance with Kramers-Kronig and other tests.
If you have any specific topics that you would like to be covered during this program, please get in touch.
In addition, there will be social events including a kick-off dinner on Monday night and a student mixer on Wednesday.
