MR PET - multidisciplinary research group on privacy and data protection together with experts with their own expertise focuses on interdisciplinary research to address complex privacy and data protection issues in collaborative environments/application areas such as Smart infrastructure, Law enforcement, Healthcare, Education, and Energy in the cyberspace. Everyone has the right to the protection of personal data concerning him or her. Personal data must be processed fairly for specified purposes and on the basis of the consent of the person concerned, or some other legitimate basis laid down by General data protection regulation (GDPR), national and international law, democratic principles, decleration of human rigts. The research members have backgrounds in AI, machine learning, deep learning, large language models, cybersecurity, privacy and data protection and trustworthy AI. The group currently runs 10 projects internationally and nationally funded which covers a wide range of application areas related to identifying cyber vulnerabilities, threats, assessing risks, simulating cyber attacks, demonstrating the impacts of these attacks on the systems and the infrastructures, cross border data sharing with third countries and safe third countries, designing and building up resilient and trustworthy AI systems by the help of security by design, privacy by design approaches and the privacy enhancing technologies, proposing frameworks at the intersection of on one side complying with the EU law, regulations, GDPR principles and on the other side mitigating the consequences of the proposed AI act. Also in our supervision of students at various levels and teaching, we bring our research results in and we focus on the augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality and metaverse based technologies in education. Our partners are research institutions, industry and government entities. Our membershave long lasting experience in research, teaching and supervision in the stated fields.
