• Estimating the global burden of headache; and
• Planning, implementing and evaluating interventions for headache disorders.

The estimation of headache-related burden, using epidemiological and descriptive methods, is a prerequisite for planning interventions aimed at reducing it. Formulating these interventions, putting them in place and assessing their effect are forms of health services research, backed by scientific method but necessarily adapted to the needs, infrastructure and resources of the country in which the project is undertaken.
