National Smart Grid Laboratory
National Smart Grid Laboratory is a system-oriented laboratory providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for R&D, demonstration, verification, and testing over a wide range of tomorrows smart grid use cases.
Besides a large variety of laboratory inventory for research on smart grids, it contains also a solar emulator and a battery storage system.
Solar rooftop installation
NTNU has a 20 kW solar installation at the roof of the Elektro-Building, connected to the smart grid laboratory. It consists of 62 panels in 11 different angles and azimuth orientations.
Daylight Laboratory
Artificial overcast sky, octagonal mirror box type.
Artificial sun for research, horizontal parallel rays from the hexagonal array of 70 lamps.
Artificial sun for teaching, point LED lamp in the focal point of a fresnell lens on an arm.
