Wanda Piescu has been hosting and moderating the Norwegian language training, also known as the Norwegian Språkkafe, at the NTNU International Researcher Support (NIRS) since February 2017.
As an experienced language teacher, she is dedicated to helping students develop their Norwegian language skills for everyday situations, build conversational confidence, access the culture and comprehend the Norwegian way(s) of thinking. She aims to make students feel welcome, appreciated, confident and at home in the new city and help them navigate life in their new country.
Since 2006, Wanda has been accumulating her experience as a teacher for adult foreign and second language learning. She holds a License as a Foreign Language Teacher and Linguist from 2005, a Master's degree in Intercultural European Studies from 2007, and has conducted extensive research in Teaching Methodology in Adult Language Learning (Ludwig-Maximilians-University in München 2008-2012). In order to follow her teaching passion, she currently teaches Norwegian on a regular basis as her side project at NTNU in Trondheim. Her method of teaching showcases her dedication to bridging cultures and fostering connections between individuals.
Wanda is the founder and owner of Trondheim for You – Guided Tours AS, a local tour company, that is dedicated to providing visitors and tourists in their own city with customized and immersive tours of Trondheim and its surroundings.
With a deep appreciation for the city's people and their stories, Wanda is enthusiastic about sharing Trondheim's rich history and landmarks with visitors, and helping them understand how it can enrich our own lives today. Leveraging her knowledge of Norwegian and local history, thought and culture, the company provides unique and authentic experiences for travellers who seek to discover the city also beyond the typical tourist routes.
Continuously developing her knowledge about Norwegian and local history, comprehension of the language, as well as enhancing her understanding of human interaction, Wanda also regularly attends conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest trends within intercultural synergies and the tourism business landscape.
