Tahmineh Akbarinejad
About
Tahmineh is a PhD candidate at NTNU, Focusing on "Empowering Sustainable Solar Energy Adoption in neighborhoods".She has a BSc in Architecture and an MSc in Sustainable Architecture from NTNU with over a decade of design and construction experience.
Currently, as a Ph.D. candidate and a member of the Helios project, funded by the Research Council of Norway and led by Gabriele Lobaccaro, she is actively involved in bridging the gap between solar technology and building processes. Her primary focus is on promoting citizen empowerment and participation in creating sustainable societies within Nordic cities. She places particular emphasis on increasing social acceptance of solar energy utilization. In addition to her work within the Helios project, she also contributes to the "IEA SHC, International Energy Agency's Solar Heating and Cooling Programme" in Task 63, which pertains to "Solar Neighborhood Planning," and Task 15, which deals with the "Enabling Framework for the Development of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)."
From 2021 to 2022, under the guidance of her supervisors, Prof. Alenka Temeljotov Salaj and Prof. Agnar Johansen, Tahmineh has developed an innovative framework for assessing and appraising social sustainability within neighborhoods as part of the "CaPs-Citizen as Pilots of Smart Cities" project, founded by Nordforsk. This framework was effectively put into practice in the Furuset area of Oslo through a collaborative effort with the Oslo Municipality's Alna district. Her contributions have played a pivotal role in aiding decision-makers by providing insights into the strengths and weaknesses of various neighborhoods concerning their social sustainability. She also presented her findings at multiple conferences.
