Solveig Beyza Narli Evenstad
About
Solveig Beyza Narli Evenstad is an Associate Professor of Organization and Leadership at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Campus Gjøvik. She teaches Sustainable Organization and Management of Innovation at master's level, and courses like Organizations and Management, Organizational psychology and Leadership, Quality Management and Qualitative methods at bachelor level.
Her research topics are at the intersection of organization, leadership, communication, innovation, digitalization and digital transformation and she has a particular interest in manufacturing and process industry as well as health sector and how technology implementation is influencing organizations, individuals and society at large.
She is also a research associate at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, now Université Côte d'Azur, the research laboratory SIC.Lab Méditerranée where she also focuses on impact of digital technologies on organizations, individuals and society at large.
After working with municipal health leaders in leadership development education in 2018-2019, Solveig focused increasingly on leadership development during 2020-2023. She was a Senior Leadership Development Specialist with Telenor’s Global Learning and Development function and owned, designed, developed, and facilitated in Telenor’s leadership development programs at various leadership levels in Nordics and Asia. Before that, she was a Senior Consultant with responsibility for Leadership Development at the Norwegian Correctional Services Academy.
Solveig was an Associate Professor (2017-2020) at the School of Business and Social Sciences, Department of Organization, Leadership and Management, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. She has taught courses on Organizational Behaviour, HRM, Leadership, Change management, Innovation management, Communication, and Conflict and Crisis Management and developed the Digitalization School for SMBs and obtained several grants.
Doctor of Communication and Media Studies, she obtained her PhD in 2016 at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis with a focus on organizational and managerial communication. During her PhD, she was also a sessional lecturer (2012-2015) in two subjects in the organizational communication major of the department, in undergraduate and master level. She also taught two master courses at the IDRAC Business School in Mougins.
Her PhD thesis was on the role of communication in work-related stress and burnout. She obtained her master's degree in Organization and Leadership in 2011 (Master of Management, High Honors, NTNU, Trondheim, Norway) with a specialization in Relationship Management: Coaching, Counseling and Motivation. She holds also a BSc in Informatics (1988, Honors, University of Oslo) and BA in Management (1985, High Honors, Bogazici University, Istanbul).
She worked with information and communication systems in global companies as a line manager, consultant, project manager, and systems analyst in 20 years before embarking upon her academic career. Her expertise was in leveraging interdisciplinary and cross-cultural insights to drive technology-enabled innovation, enhance business processes, and streamline operational workflows. She excels in organizational design, fostering team and interdepartmental communication and collaboration, and leading transformative change initiatives in the implementation of large-scale innovation projects within complex organizational systems. She now continues working with research of and teaching how to increase organizational sustainability with focus on ambidexterity and resilience for organizations and employees in today's VUCA world.
She has worked in Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, and France and had assignments in USA, UK, Sweden, Mexico. She speaks fluent English, Norwegian, French and Turkish.
