Background and project
My long-term research interests largely revolve around how 'Nature' is represented, the technologies that mediate these representations, and how these representations inform our relationships with our surrounding environments.
Throughout 2022 I conducted fieldwork for my doctoral research project, tentatively titled Algorithmic Oceans: Infrastructures of Mapping and Modeling the Arctic, at a Norwegian startup that produces remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) for industries such as oil and gas, defense and security, and aquaculture.
I previously conducted research in Buenos Aires, Argentina, looking at how concepts regarding modernity, progress, and civilization have been mobilized through landscape design and made concrete in the city's parks.
