Sari Verachtert obtained her PhD in Political Sciences from the faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Leuven, Belgium. She has a strong interest in interdisciplinary research within social sciences. She conducts research in the field of environmental behavioural change and engagement and looks at the underlying socio-psychological processes that drive these changes. During her PhD, she looked at the role of socialization on young people’s citizenship engagement in the transition to a more sustainable world. She specifically focused on education for sustainable development and citizenship education. Currently, Sari is a postdoctoral fellow in the Citizen, Environment, and Safety group at NTNU in Trondheim. She is actively involved in the CircleUp project, which examines household consumption within the context of the circular economy. CircleUp aims to identify the drivers and barriers for adopting circular economy practices and uses different interventions, including a social game designed to build a social network.
