Martin Damrath is a postdoc at the Department of Electronic Systems, NTNU and The Intervention Centre, Oslo University Hospital with expertise in molecular communications. His research interest is in applying communications engineering approaches to develop models and theories of biological communication systems that are envisioned to lead to breakthrough theranostic (therapeutic & diagnostic) medical intervention.
Research
Next-generation Theranostics of Brain Pathologies with Autonomous Externally Controllable Nanonetworks: A Trans-disciplinary Approach with Bio-nanodevice Interfaces (GLADIATOR)
GLADIATOR provides a working prototype of a complete and autonomous molecular communication system based on the conceptual framework of Externally Controllable Molecular Communications (ECMC), using Glioblastoma Multiforme tumors as a casestudy.
Communication Theoretical Foundation of Wireless Nanonetworks (CIRCLE)
CIRCLE designs biological cells that can transmit information to neighboring cells and cells placed far away. The developed engineered cells are tested in cell and organoid cultures with imaging tools.
