Discipline/work area

The main focus of my postdoctoral research project is the interplay between the physical school design and the quality of education.

  • PhD: Strengthening teachers in their role to identify and address bullying among students in elementary schools – A practice-based research project focusing on the role of teachers in bullying prevention and the effects of the PRIMA anti-bullying program in the Netherlands, University of Amsterdam
  • Education: Master in Youth, Education and Society and bachelor in Pedagogical Sciences, Utrecht University
  • Work experience: teacher and research fellow at Centre for Applied Research in Education, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2014-2021. Research assistant at the department Social and Behavioral Sciences, Utrecht University 2012-2014.

Research

In a comprehensive scoping review, I explore the relation between different aspects of a school's design and learning, well-being, teaching, and organizational factors. In an empirical participatory action study, I explore how school facilities can be utilized to support the learning, participation, and well-being of all students.
