My primary research interests are the historical legacies of past states. For example, what does it mean for Nigeria that it is host to over thirty previously independent states, while Morocco has only know the Moroccan state (besides colonial rule)? Does it matter that some areas of the world did not have any prior experience of statehood before being colonized?
I am employed as part of the Legacies project where we map the historical presence of states from the 1750-1900 preiod (se example below).
