Kathy Barolsky
About
Kathy Barolsky is an Associate Professor in Drama\Theatre Education. She is a skilled and experienced applied theatre specialist (MADA Wits) and Drama and Movement Therapist (MA RCSSD). Kathy's career as a practitioner-researcher has been shaped by topics concerning social justice, democracy, anti-racism, whiteness, diversity, well-being and community in educational and community contexts using applied theatre and drama theatre methodologies.
Kathy's specialisation is Playback Theatre. In 2008, she founded Drama for Life Playback Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, at Drama for Life, the University of the Witwatersrand.
Kathy is the coordinator for the Film, Dance, and Theatre group at the Department of Arts, Physical Education, and Sports and is the contact person for the Arts Education Masters. She teaches on subjects across the two-year Arts Education Masters and the two-year, part-time FPPU Education in Teaching, Dance, Drama and Theatre .
