Hugo Rodrigues de Brito
About
Hugo Rodrigues de Brito is currently a Ph.D. candidate at PSOA/IEL/NTNU, focusing on "Secondary Voltage Regulation for Long-Term Reactive Power Management and Minimization of Network Losses". His research is a part of the ongoing SysOpt project, Work Package 2.
Hugo holds both a B.Sc. degree (2017) and a M.Sc. degree (2019) in Electric Power Engineering from Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Brazil. He has experience with power system theory, modelling, dynamic simulation and analysis, particularly regarding voltage stability and control for transmission & distribution networks.
Research
Current research interests:
- Hierarchical voltage control, especially secondary and tertiary layers;
- Real-time coordination of reactive power resources (generators, capacitor/reactor banks, SVCs, ...);
- Operation of on-load tap changer (OLTC) transformers and generator over-excitation limiter (OEL) protection;
- Dynamic simulations in Python and PSS®E environments.
