Gro Marte Strand
About
Gro Marte Strand is an associate professor in pedagogy at the Department of teacher education. She is a qualified teacher and has several years of experience as a teacher at the primary and secondary levels. She holds a master's degree in counseling and defended her doctoral thesis The transition to lower secondary school: Experiences and perspectives in 2020. As a researcher and teacher in teacher education, Strand has a particular interest in educational transitions, as well as in topics such as inclusion, adapted training, student participation, and school-home cooperation.
Strand is the leader of the research group Educational transitions, a group that has members from both NTNU and DMMH. In her doctoral study, a cohort of students was followed during their transition from primary to lower secondary school, and she has further developed this study to include the same cohort's transition to upper secondary education. Strand participates in the Janus-modellen research project, which follows a pilot project where staff in kindergarten and primary school collaborate more closely on the children’s last six months of kindergarten and the first six months at school. She also participates in the study Det relasjonelle livet i Trondheimsskolen, which is a longitudinal study of approx. 2,000 students who started in 7th grade in the fall of 2021, and which lasts until the same students leave upper secondary education in the spring of 2028.
