About

Durga Prasad Bavirisetti is a researcher specializing in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. He earned a Ph.D. in Signal and Image Processing from VIT in 2016 and completed postdoctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Bavirisetti also worked as an algorithm expert at the innovation center of the Alibaba Group of companies and was a visiting researcher at UBC Okanagan and the University of Warsaw. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at NTNU, Norway, and a research scientist at the Department of Mobility at SINTEF Industries, working on machine vision for autonomous driving.


Research

Project: MCSINC - Machine Sensible Infrastructure under Nordic Conditions
Role: Full-time Researcher


Description:  Utilizing our research platform for Autonomous Driving (AD), which includes a vehicle equipped with AD capabilities, we aim to gain insights into the performance of CAVs in the Nordic region.

Our objectives include exploring how roads and maintenance practices should be adjusted to better accommodate CAVs. To thoroughly investigate this, we will focus on the automatic generation of high-definition (HD) maps and the development and evaluation of state-of-the-art AI vision-based localization algorithms on public roads. By collecting and analyzing data, we can assess the performance of CAVs in harsh, realistic Nordic conditions. This approach will contribute to increased knowledge and benefits in AD development for relevant national stakeholders, such as road authorities.
