Birgitte Nygaard
About
I am PhD student in Science and Technology Studies (STS) at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture (2021-2024). My project is affiliated with the research centre FME Northwind, and it is supervised by Tomas Moe Skjølsvold and Robert Næss.
In the project, I focus on energy futures, and how the transition towards renewables reshapes or revitalises the notion of the Energy Nation Norway.
I have a background in Sociology from Aalborg University, Denmark, and hold a MSc in Human Ecology from Lund University. I graduated in 2019 with a master's thesis on perceptions of desirable green practices among Danish Tesla owners. After graduating, I worked as a research assistant at the Department of Human Geography in Lund which among other things resulted in the book "Wind Power Policies and Diffusion in the Nordic Countries".
Research Interests:
Inequality and power relations
Sustainable transitions
Renewable energy (wind power)
The meaning of place
Green consumption
