About

Arianna Minoretti was born in Como on February 1st, 1979.

After completing her scientific studies, in April 2004 she graduated with honors at Politecnico di Milano, in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structures.

She received the nomination of Assistant as expert in 'theory and design of structures in reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete' and began to collaborate with Prof. and Engineer Franco Mola for the structural design of buildings and bridge structures, starting, among others, a collaboration with FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores in Madrid (Spain).

In 2006 she began her career as consultant, specialized in design for seismic and hydrogeological risk areas, also as a consultant for the Court of Como and the Chamber of Commerce.

At the same time, she started an active voluntary work for the Order of Engineers of the Province of Como, where she first played the role of President of young engineers and then joined the Senior Council as Vice President, until 2013.

In January 2014 she moved to Norway, where she started working for the Norwegian Public Road Administration (NPRA). After the first two years of work, she became responsible for a specific type of bridge, called ‘Submerged Floating Tube Bridge’ (SFTB),  and she became the referent person for the feasibility studies on this structure. She is the national and international contact person for this topic for the NPRA.

From 2016 until today, she follows several research projects that are developed in collaboration with universities and feasibility studies in collaboration with private consultancy firms which, working with the NPRA, develop studies and tests on this particular structure up to demonstrate its real feasibility. She is responsible for disseminating the results of the research and studies through technical/scientific publications and attending, as a representative for the Public Administration, international conferences and public information meetings, as well as technical meetings all over the world with designers, universities, research centers, and administrations, for the presentation of similar studies, as an expert consultant for the Norwegian Public Administration.

In 2017 she received the 'Alumni' award from Politecnico di Milano, for her work in the research field.

In addition to the studies on the SFTB, she is involved in various research projects on the durability and sustainability of infrastructures and their impact on the environment and she is the contact person for the Norwegian Public Road Administration for the bridges group of the NVF (Nordic Road Association), The Norwegian Concrete Association International (NB international) and, since 2019, she is a permanent member of Commission 1 of the Fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete) on concrete structures.

In addition to the Norwegian national regulations, she also deals with writing international guidelines, rules and regulations. Among these, the ‘owners guide for SFT’ for the ITA-AITES association and the ‘guideline for construction of bridges’ for the IABSE association. Additionally, the first international guidelines on the SFTB, written in collaboration with an international group of experts, that were published at the end of 2020 by Fib (Fib Bulletin 96).

In 2019 she was invited as a 'speaker' to two ‘TEDx talk’ (Bologna, October 2019 and Como, November 2019).

In 2020 she moved to the Department of Technology and Development for the Norwegian Public Administration, working with new technologies, especially in relation to materials and floating structures, focusing on developing more durable and sustainable solutions from an environmental point of view.

In May 2020, she was nominated ‘Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia’ by the President of the Italian Republic.

In May 2023 she started, together with her work at NPRA, a Ph.D. position at NTNU University in Trondheim, on project portfolio management for the transport sector, focused on sustainability.
