CV

I am an experienced, academic with a rich background in Physics, having earned my Ph.D. from the University of Paris XI and Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité-Supélec in 2006. My early postdoctoral research took place at the Institute d'Electronique et de Télécommunications de Rennes (INSA de Rennes) and the Intervention Centre (IVS) at Oslo University Hospital, spanning from 2006 to 2010. I further honed my expertise during my tenure as an Assistant Professor in the ECE department at K.N.Toosi University in Tehran from 2010 to 2015. Presently, I hold the esteemed position of Research Professor at the Department of Electronic Systems at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, as well as at the Intervention Center at Oslo University Hospital. My career is marked by leadership in several high-impact industrial R&D projects and a strong involvement in numerous projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council, such as "WINNOW," "CIRCLE," and "CLIPEUS." Additionally, I contribute as a Co-PI to various EU H2020 projects, including FET Open initiatives like GLADIATOR and 5G-HEART and leading EU H2020 B-CRATOS FET Open.  My research interests encompass a broad spectrum, including antennas and wave propagation, wireless communications, electromagnetic compatibility, measurement techniques, and bio-electromagnetics. To date, I have authored over 120 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers and hold nine patents. I am also the CTO of SalveoSolutions AS, where we focus on pioneering battery-free implant technology.

Research

Wireless Brain-Connect Interface to Machines (B-CRATOS), H2020:Future Emerging Technologies (FET) Open

B-CRATOS is creating a breakthrough communication platform for brain-machine and intra-body signaling while advancing prosthetics and sensor technologies to overcome a number of challenges facing next-generation neural interfaces and implantables.

A Paradigm shift in Oncology Research via externally controllable molecular communications for bio-nano-machine diagnostics (GLADIATOR)

GLADIATOR innovates in brain pathology treatment, merging life sciences and ICT to create a theranostic system using ECMC for Glioblastoma. It integrates bio-nanomachines and neural stem cells, revolutionizing Oncology and advancing nano-bio technologies.

5G HEalth AquacultuRe and Transport Validation Trials (5G-HEART)

EU-funded 5G-HEART focuses on healthcare, transport, and aquaculture through 5G technology. It aims to improve cancer screening, driving autonomy, and aquaculture, leveraging consortium expertise in 5G applications.

Publications

Over the past six years, my collaborative endeavors with distinguished postdoctoral researchers and PhD candidates have primarily focused on the integration of RF systems, electromagnetics, and wireless communication technologies in biomedical applications. Our efforts have concentrated on advancing communication support for medical implants, ranging from cardiac pacemakers for heart health, to capsule endoscopy for intestinal and gastric applications, and brain implants for brain-machine interfaces. This wide-ranging, multidisciplinary research has been backed by substantial grants from RCN Norway, with projects like WINNOW, the FORNY Innovation Grant, and CLIPEUS. Additionally, we've participated in key European projects, including the Wireless Brain-Connect Interface to Machines (B-Cratos) as part of the FET OPEN CHALLENGE, the H2020 ICT 5G Health Aquaculture and Transport Validation Trials (5G-HEART), and the GLADIATOR-FET OPEN CHALLENGE, which aims to revolutionize oncology research through externally controllable molecular communications for bio-nano-machine diagnostics.
