Adina Moraru
About
I will defend my PhD thesis on the 22nd October in Trondheim and online. I will hold two presentations that day:
- “Uses, challenges and limitations of applying Digital Twins (DTs) in watersheds for acute and long-term flood management” - at 10:15 CET.
- "Optimization of hydraulic models for the visualization of flash floods in steep rivers"- at 13:15 CET.
You may read more about the event and how to attend here.
About me:
I graduated from the Univ. of Granada (Spain) with a BSc in Environmental Sciences and continued my studies with a pre-MSc in Geological Engineering and a joint MSc in Geological Hazards at the Univ. of Barcelona and Autonomous Univ. of Barcelona (Spain). My master’s thesis was carried out in the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the Univ. of Geneva (Switzerland) and focused on the study of geomorphic indicators controlling channel widening during flash floods affecting the uppermost areas of selected European rivers. After graduating I held the position of Managing Editor at the Earth Sciences international journal Geologica Acta.
I am currently a PhD candidate at NTNU, working on the Optimization of Hydraulic Models for the Visualization of Flash Floods in Steep Rivers (Hydraulic Engineering & Hydroinformatics) within the World of Wild Waters (WoWW) project (under the umbrella of NTNU's Digital Transformation initiative). On the side of research, I actively participate in IAHR Scandinavia Young Professionals Network (founding member and acting president) and in GeoNorth/GeoNor (Nordic and Norwegian Group Members of IAG, respectively, as a Young Geomorphologists' National Representative).
