    • Bus 37 stops by the university. Bus 31, 32 and 36 stop by the roundabout at Kallerud (about 200 metres from the university).

Bus transportation after conference to Oslo Airport?

  • We can, if there is enough interest, set up a bus to the airport after the conference. The bus will leave at approx 17.30 and be at the airport at the latest 19.30.  It will be a shared expence, but minimum 200NOK per person. If this is of interest, please notify Anne.aandalen@ntnu.no by Monday 27th of June. Mark e-mail with "CLF2016, bus transport to airport Thursday evening"

NTNU Gjøvik is situated in Kallerud, only a 10 minute walk from the centre of Gjøvik, and less than 20 minutes away from the bus and train station. Gjøvik is located in the central eastern part of Norway, about 140 kilometres north of Oslo. Trains and buses run between Gjøvik and Oslo several times a day, with the TIMEkspressen bus service stopping at Gardermoen, Oslo's main international airport. Northbound trains to Trondheim and Bodø can be taken from Lillehammer, only an hour to the north by bus.

 

Parking

There are few parking lots around the University, it is recommended to use public transportation or to park in the parking house at Kallerud in MerkantilvegenStudent and staff are obliged to have a visible parking disc in the car. Parking discs are distributed at the Student Centre in Building G. The parking disc does not guarantee, but gives permission to park within marked areas.

About Gjøvik – the city:

With almost 30,000 inhabitants, Gjøvik is Oppland county’s most populous municipality. But compared with the country’s largest cities, Gjøvik still has the small town idyll. Gjøvik is growing and has gradually become a significant student town. Gjøvik is centrally located in the heart of Norway. It is a short way to Oslo Airport, and the distance to Oslo is only 140 kilometres. Neighbouring villages Lillehammer and Hamar is a half hour’s drive away.

Both Mjøsa and the area around the city is ideal for an active outdoor life. In addition, you will also find a great swimming facilities in the centre, Fastland. Gjøvik Olympic Mountain Hall is the  worlds  largest hall - for public use - and also technically unique.In the winter, you can take advantage of a stunning cross-country skiing around town, with one of the country’s best slopes. If you like alpine, telemark or snowboard, it is a short way to Hafjell and Kvitfjell. The climate is stable. When it is winter it is cold and a lot of snow, and in summer it is dry and hot. The landscape around the city alternates between green pastures, waving fields, forests and hills.
