About Protection

The research group on Protection brings together interdisciplinary professionals to explore innovative solutions, materials, and technologies for creating protective structures that are not only effective but also environmentally friendly and accepted by society.

Our main objective is to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange among individuals and organizations interested in the intersection between sustainability, protection, and society.

By facilitating discussions, sharing insights, and promoting best practices, we advance the development and implementation of sustainable solutions in protective structures.

We focus on a wide range of interdisciplinary topics related to sustainable protective structures, including but not limited to:

  • Sustainable materials selection and utilization.
  • Implementation of eco-friendly construction techniques.
  • Numerical optimalization to reduce material consumption.
  • New materials, recycling, and circular economy.
  • Resilience and disaster risk reduction.
  • Climate adaptation and mitigation strategies.
  • Innovations in protective structure design.
  • Society acceptance both regarding level of protection, risk, and cost.
  • Case studies and best practices.
  • Visibility and media.
  • Policy advocacy and regulatory frameworks.
