Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry Lab - ICP-HR-MS Lab - Department of Chemistry
ICP-HR-MS Lab
Our Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-HR-MS) lab is upgraded with a new Agilent - 8800 ICP-MS Triple Quad. Together with Element 2, this is the best setup of ICP-MS instruments that is available in today’s market. It’s even more powerful in removing interferences then Element 2 in many cases. We also add one more person into the ICP-MS group, Anica Simic.

Inductively Coupled Plasma-High Resolution-Mass Spectrometer
Element 2 is able to determine almost all elements from sub ng/l to high mg level. Our lab offer 73 elements and isotope ratio measurements for Lead (Pb), Uranium (U), Plutonium (Pu) and Strontium (Sr) is available.
Type of materials: all kind of materials, but only solutions with total solids < 0.5% free of particles can be inserted directly into Element 2. However, with UltraCLAVE from Milestone (see picture below), pretreatment of all kind of solid materials is available.
UltraCLAVE (Milestone)
High Pressure Digestion Unit
UltraCLAVE from Milestone can digest all kind of materials, with sample sizes from a few mg to 1000 mg. Different mixture of acid can be used as Nitric acid (HNO3), Hydrofluoric acid (HF), and Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) with heating up to 250 C with PFA vials, and to 300 C with quarts vials. This gives better digestion then conventional microwave ovens.
