Course content
These topics are included:
- Physics for optimal utilization of power semiconductors: Power diodes, power transistors, thyristors, Gate Turn-Off Thyristors, Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors, SiC components.
- Snubbers
- Gate drivers
- Cooling
- Design of high frequency magnetic components
Learning outcome
The course aims to give a deep understanding of semiconductor physics and the role of semiconductor physics in optimal and reliable power electronics converter design.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, self study and project based on litterature studies.
The course is given every second year, next time spring 2012.
Recommended previous knowledge
TET4190 Power Electronics for Renewable Energy or similar.
