HUNT Covid (2021-2023)

HUNT Covid (2021-2023)

HUNT has been collecting health data for four decades, with the last full scale survey ending in 2019. This put us in a unique position when Covid struck in 2020, giving us the opportunity to examine health data from the same population before and after the pandemic.

HUNT Covid

Everyone who participated in HUNT4 received an SMS with an invitation to fill in an electronic questionnaire from home and to meet at a field station in their municipality to give a blood sample.

Through HUNT COVID, we wanted to gain knowledge about the extent to which the chronically ill are more susceptible to contracting Covid-19, which groups are more vulnerable to the psychological strain and how the healthcare system has functioned during the pandemic. It also gave us the opportunity to research how the body reacted to the vaccine and how effective the various vaccines were. By looking more closely at such questions, we wish to contribute to better treatment, a more efficient healthcare system and the opportunity to be better prepared the next time we as a society experience a crisis.
