Position
Yu Wang is senior researcher at department of Architecture and Planning, NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His research is focusing on the fast urbanization and its impacts on urban inhabitants, heritage conservation and urban resilience. In 2018-2022 he was in a part-time position at rector’s office for NTNU-China cooperation. Since 2021, he has been appointed as deputy head of the department for research.
Competence
In recent years he participated several projects which are in link to China. He is project coordinator assistant to UTFORSK_Sustianable Energy in Cities, project manager of INTPART_Sino-Norwegian Partnership on Sustainable Energy, Horizon 2020_URBAN-EU-CHINA (EU-China Innovation Platform on Sustainable Urbanization), UTFORSK_iSTAR and Horizon 2020_Trans-URBAN-EU-CHINA.
Background
Wang Yu earned his master of architecture in 2007 at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), China. During his study he participated several research projects which are related to heritage conservation. After his graduation he becomes a conservationist and a teacher at XAUAT. From 2009-2015 he went to Norway for his PhD study in focusing on heritage conservation and reparation after natural disaster. After being titled doctor, he is working on some research projects which are linked to China.
Research
His research is focusing on fast urbanization and its impacts on urban inhabitants, heritage conservation, and urban resilience.
URBAN-EU-CHINA
The URBAN-EU-CHINA Innovation Platform on Sustainable Urbanisation aims to boost the development of smart and sustainable solutions, services and technologies in Chinese and European cities and markets.
TRANS-URBAN-EU-CHINA
TRANS-URBAN-EU-CHINA aimed to help policy makers, urban authorities, real estate developers, public service providers and citizens in China to create socially integrative cities in an environmentally friendly and financially viable way.
URBAN-NORWAY-CHINA
URBAN-NORWAY-CHINA contributes to cooperation on sustainable urban development between Norway and China, based on student assignments, learning between cities, and Nordic Edge China.
Sino-Norwegian Partnership on Sustainable Energy
SiNoPSE is a Sino-Norwegian Partnership on Sustainable Energy between Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Tsinghua University (THU).
