Research projects
DROPOUT (2023-2026) is an project funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and is led by professor Frode Stenseng. The primary objective of DROPOUT is to investigate and identify the actual risk and protective factors associated with high school dropout. This project utilizes data from the prospective studies Trondheim Early Secure Study (TESS) and the Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT).
"The Relational Life in the Trondheim Schools" (2022-2028). This project is led by Professor Jan Arvid Haugan (ILU, NTNU), and supported by Professor Per Frostad (IPL, NTNU) and myself. Our aim is to explore the longitudinal relationships between students' well-being, sense of belonging and other influential factors at the student, classroom and school levels.
Over the course of the project, we will follow approximately 2,000 students from the time they started 7th grade in autumn 2021, until they complete their upper secondary education in spring 2028. To ensure comprehensive insights, we have adopted a mixed methods design, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. These include interviews, surveys and sociometric surveys, enabling us to gain a holistic understanding of the students' experiences. The project is a collaboration with Trondheim municipality.
Doctoral dissertation
"Influence of the Psychosocial School Environment on Adolescents' Mental Health, Wellbeing, and Loneliness: Impact of a Psychosocial School Program and Other Factors". During my PhD project, I conducted a comprehensive investigation into the influence of the universal school programme called VIP Partnership on the mental health and overall wellbeing of upper secondary students.
